Our 40-Year Journey
It started with two machines and a dream
In the early ’80s, Josh and John were a couple of high school buddies with a shared love of good times and even better ice cream. Armed with two 1920s White Mountain machines and zero professional experience, they opened a tiny shop in downtown Colorado Springs in June 1986.
Fresh out of Middlebury and Colorado College, they brought nothing but passion. Their first flavor — Cookies & Cream — drew lines out the door from day one.
Quality has always come first
From the very beginning, we’ve been committed to local sourcing and clean ingredients. Our cream comes from a nearby dairy that crafts a proprietary, clean-label blend just for us.
We sweeten only with pure sugar — never eggs, preservatives, corn syrup, or carrageenan. Our production facility, the Churn Barn, sits just feet from the dairy’s distribution center, so everything stays fresh and local.
From one shop to a Colorado tradition
What began as a single storefront is now a cornerstone of the Colorado experience: seven retail locations, a thriving wholesale business, three vintage VW Scoop Buses, and the Churn Barn at the heart of it all.
For 40 years, we’ve been honored to serve this community — and we’re just getting started.
